    People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.^(B)

⁴ Since ancient times no one has heard,
    no ear has perceived,
no eye has seen any God besides you,^(A)
    who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.^(B)

“What no eye has seen,
    what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”^[a]—
    the things God has prepared for those who love him—^(A)

13 “My eyes have seen all this,^(A)
    my ears have heard and understood it.

²⁶ He punishes them for their wickedness^(A)
    where everyone can see them,

⁷ I am going to bring foreigners against you,
    the most ruthless of nations;^(A)
they will draw their swords against your beauty and wisdom^(B)
    and pierce your shining splendor.^(C)

⁷ “In the greatness of your majesty^(A)
    you threw down those who opposed you.
You unleashed your burning anger;^(B)
    it consumed^(C) them like stubble.
